Thursday Threads: Four Eyes

I went to the optometrist for the first time in a couple of years today. The good news is that as I get older my eyes are getting better and I am not only a -5.50 in each eye...it was -6.0 and before that -6.25...so that's good. The other good bit is that this is the time to evaluate what frames need to be retired and look for new ones if I want. I normally like to have 2-4 pairs to work with. Here are two pair that I have found and really like. One of them is going to be under way to get made ...hopefully tomorrow!  The other pair I've gotten mixed reviews on.
Today I found this pretty pair from Pillip Lim,it's called "Moujik" and although it comes in various colors, it's this soft pink that I really like. You can find them here.

This is my new pair of lovelies.. I will be getting these made along with my black cat eyes over the weekend. These are the classic wayfarer frame, unlike the current wayfarer that I have which is thinner. You can find them here in a darker torta and a black. I got them in this shade which is called "Havana Yellow".

Hope you've been having a great week. Things have been very busy--- so I appologize.

XOXO

Music Monday: Dawes

The first time I heard Dawes was a few years ago and I immediately fell in music love. A few months ago I heard their new single, From a Window Seat and was not an initial fan, but then it grew on me as I listened to the lyrics. The song is telling such a great story, and something that everyone who has stepped foot on a plane can relate to.

Hope you have a great week!

Music Monday: The Great Gatsby

This weekend XM was showcasing the soundtrack to the latest edition of The Great Gatsby on the silver screen. When you read this classic novel, or if you have seen previous incarnations, the music is evocative of the time the novel is set in, the hot summer of 1922. When you see Baz Lurhmann's version of the novel, it is risky and the music matches. Cole Porter and JZ haven't had too much in common until now.  The traditionalists have not been happy with the lack of classic jazz, but if you look at the film for its aesthetic, then it kind of fits in. Personally, I liked it and there are some songs that I really enjoyed.  Have you seen the film or heard its soundtrack?
Here is a list of the songs I like...
1. Back to Black by Beyonce and Andre 300
2. Bang Bang by Will.i.am
3. Young and Beautiful by Lana del Rey
4. Over the Love (of you) by Florence + The Machine

Hope you had a great weekend and I hope music makes your Monday lovely!

Thursday Threads: Going Gatsby

It seems like this happens every few years...the anticipation of one movie causes people to throw theme parties, designers to show off their film inspired wares and before we know it we've all cut our hair and have multiple beaded dresses hanging in our closets. This year it seems like we're all going ga-ga for Gatsby. Here are a few things you might want to wear next time you're on West Egg on your way to Gatsby's.
Kate Spade has this beautiful clutch which looks like you're carrying around great Scott's book is perfect! It's currently on sale too!

These Eddie flats by Tory Burch are perfect for a Gatsby gathering. They are fabulous...and did I mention they are on sale too?

Then you have Tiffany's who takes the cake. They have an entire collection inspired by the film and roaring 20's. The piece de resistance is this headband which can be yours for a mere $200,000...pennies really. It is stunning after all.

So happy shopping!
