Thursday Threads: It's in the Stars

When I was growing up my ceiling was covered in glow in the dark stars, then in high school I had a small couch in my bedroom that was upholstered in a blue with white star printed fabric, in college I use to wear my chain of stars necklace from Tiffany's. You can say I've always had a thing for the cosmos which is why I've fallen in love this week with these new pieces from J.Crew. They are straight from the heavens! I can't imagine not having at least one of these pieces in my collection this fall. They are all so lovely and reasonably priced too!
J.Crew $118

Art Talk Tuesday: Folk Color Block and Inspirations of Color

Over the past few months dramatic aesthetic changes have been happening at our museum. The changes began to occur before I went on maternity leave, but were not done until after I was gone. There are still walls being painted and amazing artifacts being exhumed for public viewing, but this wall caught my eye yesterday.
This is in the new Folk Life Gallery. I love the way the colors intercept and clash all at the same time. It inspired me to go out and buy a new notebook for this new phase in our history at the history museum. This is what I found...
Look familiar? The instant I saw it, I knew this had to be the one. This lead to me think about the many ways art inspires our actions in life on a daily basis. What colors to wear, where to go on vacation...or simply how to stop and enjoy the simple things. Does art inspire you?

Music Monday: Back in the Saddle Again

12 weeks came and went! Today was my first day back at work from maternity leave. Not that I am going to be establishing my routine again I am really going to make the effort to post frequently.
Today has felt like like my first day back at school, which is why I've been singing the Gene Autry classic, "Back in the Saddle Again" since 7:00 am. It's also Monday, so I am sure many of you can relate... we're all back in the saddle! Click here for the video!

Hope you had a great weekend. Happy Monday!

Thursday Threads: Sweat It Off

It's summer, it's hot and in Miami it's rainy! As you might know 6 weeks ago today I had a beautiful baby boy, so I am on a mission to get back in shape. I have lost all the weight but now need to firm up the squish. This past weekend I was in Old Navy and found their active wear section (I had never been back there). I was so impressed...here are some of my finds!
Graphic Tank

Old Navy Compression Active Capri

They have these pants and tanks in all sorts of different colors. They are really great! I spent most of my day yesterday in a set like this.

Happy Shopping!

Why I've Been MIA This Year...

I'm delivering a baby boy this Thursday. Balancing work, family, community service and friends during a pregnancy is tough...so that's why I've been MIA. I know this may not be news to some of you...but I wanted to put it out there.

I am officially on maternity leave, so I hope to maybe post more often...I'll certainly be posting over on the family blog The Florida Room.
