Music Monday & GIVEAWAY Winner!

Happy Monday! I hope you had a nice weekend. If you were like me and read the Hunger Games trilogy. at some point this weekend you made your way to a theatre near you and watched the movie of the first installment. The movie was great, a few changes to the book, but overall it was really good. I will say one of the interesting things is that the soundtrack was all score, although there is a much hyped about soundtrack. You can listen for yourself  here for the songs.

In other news, today I am happy to announce the winner of the Spring Giveaway! Thank you everyone for commenting and spreading the word all week about the giveaway. The winner is...(drum roll)

Miss Southern Prep

Congratulations! Please email me so that I can get it to you in the mail. Thanks again everyone and keep reading!

Jess + Cec = Kindred Spirits

Today is the very very Happiest Birthday of one of my greatest friends, one of my favorite people, a woman I truly admire and strive to be more like. Never in your life will you meet someone as generous, honest, caring, patient or open minded as Jess (a.k.a. Singleton in the Kitchen). She's bright, pretty, funny and to say she knows her way around a kitchen would be one of my greatest understatements! For the past 16 years she has been there for me through the good, the bad, the silly and the sad. I love her with all my heart, and I honestly feel blessed to call her part of my inner circle. So, cheers to you my friend. I love you, I miss you and I wish you nothing but the best on this your 21st birthday (+++).
Here we are at our BFF Lauren's wedding. I'm not sure how this foxxy thing started with us...but we do it. We do it all the time. Every time we are together we do it!

See! Here we are this past September at HER wedding and we are pulling out our foxxy ears!

Jess lives in DC these days and the following is a series of pictures from a trip I took to see her for a week. It was probably one of my favorite weeks with her ever!

Here we are in front of the White House pulling out our foxxy ears!

As you can see we start dressing very similarly as the week progresses. I love her sense of classic and effortless style.

She even lets me talk her into posing like  paintings in museums!
Here I am with the M sisters! We're at the Deering Estate in Miami when they came to visit for my big 3-0 birthday!

Here we are in Houston at the Beer Can House pulling out the foxxy ears on her 3-0 birthday weekend!

Who says the 80s are a part of the past? We pulled out all the stops for this 80s themed birthday party in Miami

Here she is at a Farmer's Market in DC. Isn't she lovely? Isn't she wonderful?
Today's ensemble is in honor of Mrs. H --- when we spoke on the phone this morning she said she approved. So here you have it, my "stingray" TB Reva flats with red jeans and...

a navy & white striped shirt with navy beaded cardigan on top. I apologize for the quality of the pictures but they were taken on my iPad! I also apologize for looking so sickly--- I am and I have yet to put on makeup!
Anyhooo--- HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESS! I love you and you may blog on forever and a day!

Thursday Threads: Spring = Lilly

Spring has sprung and that means it is time to bust out your Lilly Pulitzer wears! Just this week on the Lilly blog, they announced that the famous ...or rather infamous animal crackers are back! Have any of you ever scored these? Having a box of my own would make me so happy!

The announcement inspired me to scour the Lilly Pulitzer site to find wears that I would want to add to my closet this season. There are so many to pick from...but I will say, to this day NOTHING beats a classic Lilly shift dress! I did not see any this spring in her collection---so I hope this is something they consider doing again soon!
This is a great little dress. I love the ruffles and it is only $118! The Carolyn Dress comes in 3 prints which are all cute!

Ranging from $78-$118 the Murfee Scarf is a great way to add a little touch of Lilly to any outfit this summer. I have to say I would have a hard time picking just one if someone asked me to. They are all so bright and colorful!

Who would not want to wear these cute shorts?! They are a little TOO short for me, so I wouldn't...but anyone with a great set of legs can pull them off! The Buttercup Shorts are only $68 and come in 3 great prints!

Who could resist this iPhone case (other than someone without an iPhone)? These cases also have built in card cases so that you don't have to carry a bulky wallet with you priced at $27 online it's an incredibly affordable way to have some Lilly with you at all times.
So there you have my Thursday Threads for this week! Enjoy and Happy Shopping!
ps- don't forget about the giveaway !!

Music Monday: Fun

You may have heard their song on Glee, or on the radio...but the anthemesque "We Are Young" by Fun is on my list of songs to download. I heard it this Saturday on my way to drop off le bebe at her Coco's so that we could celebrate D's birthday and St. Patrick's Day in full force. The song is catchy enough that it stays in your head without being irritating...maybe I'm old, but it made me feel young! Hope you had a great weekend!

Thursday Threads: DVF Big and Small

To quote the great Madonna, "I'm gonna wrap you up in my love!". Today very stylish kiddies around the globe will be able to add mini DVF creations to their closets thanks to Diane von Furstenberg's partnership with Baby Gap and Gap Kids. Fortunately for my bank account my mini is still considered a baby when it comes to her clothes, which is great because the wrap dresses for babies are $45 instead of $55. The sale is well under way so be sure to visit your local Gap or click here to shop online. Now, if you are looking for a special DVF for yourself that isn't out in stores now, check out the small collection my friends at
Back in Style have online of vintage DVF that you can hang in your closet!
Happy Shopping!

Ann's Locket of Love

Ann Remotigue is a local photographer in Miami who saw someone wearing my locket and immediately thought that not only did she need a locket for herself but also wanted to offer the large oval lockets to her customers. Above are the pictures of her locket featuring her beautiful photography and her darling daughters.
Starting soon Ann will be offering my lockets as part of her Mother's Day mini-sessions. If you live in South Florida and not only want one of my lockets but a mini-session with this talented photographer, then you should definitely check out Ann!

Music Monday: Marilyn Sings Happy Birthday

In May of 1962 Marilyn Monroe sang a sultry version of the Birthday Song to our then President, JFK. Nearly 14 years later on March 12, 1976 an almost 10 pound red headed little boy came into this world and for the past 36 years has been leaving a mark in our community and in the lives of his family members. This Wednesday, this handsome ginger will be sworn in as President of the Junior Orange Bowl Committee--- so I thought it would be appropriate to dedicate this Music Monday post and this sultry birthday song to my Mr. President, D. Happy Birthday sugar, I love you and hope the next 36 years are as wonderful and memorable as the first 36!

Wardrobe Wednesday: Easy Breezy

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today I am wearing something easy breezy, a short kaftan. I saw my cousin wearing one  while we were in Nicaragua this month. There's a little store in Coral Gables called the Golden Triangle that has all sorts of Indian treasures. This was the last kaftan they had like this, but the shop girl said they get them in on a regular basis.
It's cute and I really enjoy supporting local businesses!

Tuesday Tunes: Share the Moon

I know that I normally blog about music on Mondays---but I was excited to show the progress on the painting for baby Sam yesterday. ---so for this week we'll have Tuesday Tunes!

Yesterday on my way home from picking up the bebe I heard a new song off the new Indigo Girls CD.  Share the Moon is definitely worth downloading if you are a fan of the Indigo Girls. It has their classic quality while staying fresh. Have any of you heard the whole album? So far what I have heard has been great.

Hope you are having a great week so far!

Thursday Threads: Gilt Gal

Over the past few years, this fabulous lady and I have run into each other at a few social events. Turns out that Ms. Alexandra Wilkis Wilson (co-founder of the Gilt site) is friends with a few of my cousins. She's such a doll and obviously dresses impeccably. This past week we were in Nicaragua for my cousin's wedding--- she complimented me on my earrings, I told her about Thursday Threads and told her the next time she is in Miami I will take her to my haunts for good shops! The talented Ms. WW has written a book with her co-founder Alexis Maybank about how they built their fashionable site.If you have not visited or joined Gilt, I suggest you run and do so. They produce the most amazing boutiques every week full of treasures!!
